Women safety: Useful mobile apps

Like other metros in India, the national capital Delhi has witnessed an unprecedented rise in crime against women in recent years.In 2014, around14,687 cases including 2,069 cases of rape were registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to National Crime Records Bureau, 3,09,546 cases of crime against women were reported in India during the year 2013.In this context, there are several mobile based applications that can give women protection and provide any help or assistance that helps victim seek help.This type of android enabled applications can send a distress call or emergency message to a specified person or group when a woman in distress. This apps provides correct Location, Information and Communication, with and from the app is dependent upon the basic hardware/software requirements, like – Active Data plan, SMS plan, minimum talk time and active GPS functionality.Generally, this type mobile apps track user’s movement through Global Positioning System(GPS) and immediately send exact location information to the server. This apps display user’s current location on the Google map. User can also send SOS alert to server by pressing panic button of the apps.
